Okay… I’ll admit, I probably don’t read as much as I should. The roller coaster ride I’ve been on this summer has not left me with a whole lot of time to sit down and read, however, I’m slowly getting back into being the avid reader I was a year or two ago. So… I thought I’d share with you what I’m reading right now.
The church Beth and I are attending is doing a nine week spiritual renewal study based on the book Simply Christian: Why Chrisitanity Makes Sense by N.T. Wright. The pastor is preaching on the main themes of the book while several small groups meet throughout the week either at the church or in homes to go through a study guide and discuss the book. This study started last week, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results of it.
My Peer Learning Group is going through the book Tribal Church: Ministering to the Missing Generation by Carol Howard Merritt. I’m very interested in this book because it talks about ministering to people under the age of forty, which a lot of churches have a hard time doing. As a minister, I was very passionate about this topic for a couple of reasons. First, I’m in this age bracket, and second, the ideas that churches I was a part of were trying to implement were almost the opposite of what I would have wanted as a church member. I will discuss this further once I finish this book.
