Star of Indiana to return for 2010 DCI World Championship performance

The Star Alumni Association recently announced plans to assemble an alumni corps to perform as part of the 2010 Drum Corps International World Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Based out of Bloomington, Ind., Star of Indiana was a Drum Corps International member corps from 1985 to 1993. Winning the DCI World Championship title in 1991, the organization left the competitive drum corps circuit after the 1993 summer season, pursuing several additional performance ventures including the Emmy and Tony Award-winning stage production “Blast!”.

I was a freshman at harrison county high school when STAR was formed.Istarted playing drums in 1984 and in a short time became very passionate about drum corp and music alike.I was constantly moved around as a result of being a foster child which often made it difficult for me to pursue my dreams of being a member of STAR. However i did go to an audition in the fall of 1985 and learned what it would take to march this elite corp.Well life interupted my plans and after staying with foster families who cared very little about my interest I soon found myself 18 and homeless.Life for me only became increasingly difficult but i would always find comfort in music. After turning 21 I realized I would never march with the corp of my dreams. I soon made better of my situation and soon was enrolled at Morehead State University in Eastern Kentucky. I marched tenors under Frank Oddis and studied under and with Greg Strauss,Todd Parker,Bobby Jones, just to name a few.MSU went to PASIC in 1992 and 1993 n which won the indoor marching forum both times. I guess by hanging on to my dream to march STAR I made some other dreams a reality. My dream to perform with the Star of Indiana will never become a reality however if a spot opens call me! I am not wealthy by no means , but if I can contribute in any way please do not hesitate to call me. GO STAR!!!!!
