Back at the end of October, I went on a mission trip with my boss to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.  It’s an island about 100 miles long and 2.5 miles wide at it’s widest point and is home to around six small settlements.  We worked with an organization called Bahamas Methodist Habitat, a mission of the Bahamas Conference of the United Methodist Church, which focuses on disaster relief and sub-standard housing repair to the people of the Bahamas.

While we were there, we worked on an ongoing project of building a new house for a lady who currently lives in a small shack with no electricity and no running water.  If you take a look at this picture, you’ll see how her new house compares to her current one.  I also spent part of a day installing a wireless access point at Camp Symonette, where we stayed at.  We went to one of the most interesting Methodist worship services I’ve ever seen as well.

Camp Symonette is the heartbeat of Bahamas Methodist Habitat, a Christian mission that is spreading the love of Jesus throughout the Bahamas by doing good works on 10 different islands. The camp houses staff members, long-term volunteers and a slew of Bahamian children and over 600 short-term volunteers during the season.
